Fairfield, Randolph, Waterville -
A man accused of robbing two pharmacies in Central Maine last week is now being linked to three more pharmacy robberies - all taking place in less than a week-and-a-half. Two of the crimes were in Connecticut.
Police arrested 26-year-old Shawn Merrill last Friday.
They say they found him in a getaway car in Windsor, about two hours after he robbed the Rite Aid on Main Street in Fairfield at gunpoint.
They say he's the same man who robbed the Walmart pharmacy in Waterville last Tuesday night.
State police spokesman Steve McCausland now says Merrill was also responsible for a robbery that same night at Goggins IGA in Randolph.
Police in Connecticut say before Merrill's crime spree started in Maine, he allegedly robbed a Walgreen's pharmacy in Dayville on June 7th and CVS Pharmacy in Plainfield on June 10th.
McCausland says Merrill will probably go through the court system in Maine before he's send to Connecticut to face charges there.
Merrill's currently being held without bail.
