Fire Damages Home in Stetson

Stetson - Authorities believe a fire in Stetson Saturday night accidentally started in the kitchen area.

Crews from 8 departments were called to Lapoint Road around 9:45.

Stetson's fire chief Kim Tracy tells TV 5 flames were coming out of both the first and second floors when he arrived less than 10 minutes later.

The Estabrooke family was able to make it out safely but they did loose several pets in the fire.

Chief Tracy says the second floor of the home was destroyed in the fire, and there is significant water and smoke damage to the first.

The Red Cross has been called in to help the Estabrooke family.

Some fire fighters suffered heat exhaustion.

Crews cleared the scene around 1:15 Sunday morning.
