Bangor - Time has certainly flown for a group of pilots who haven't taken air in decades.

"I remember the way we used to do it when we were young, agile. We would just climb on and jump in and away we went. That's seventy years ago," said Colonel Paul Lucey.

At 89 years old, it's been awhile since he has shared a tarmac with one of the planes he used to fly, which is why when he learned one was landing at Bangor International Airport he had to come by.

"I served in Okinawa....right near the end, but I was a corsair pilot, flew this machine. I wanted to see my old reliable friend that got me back ok," said Lucey.

The plane was accompanied by four others that were flown in by the Texas Flying Legends, a Houston based group charged with restoring World War II aircrafts.

"The planes are from all over different theatres in the war from the Aleutian Islands to China. We go everywhere World War II veterans are," said the organization's president, Chris Griffith.

Griffith said they made a point to bring the air show to the city, where a crew of young pilots would take flight with some of their predecessors on board.

"When you have something like this you really look forward to it," said former World War II pilot Donald Gallupe.

He and two others agreed to hop on a B-25 plane, named "Betty's Dream," for a chance to fly over the city and take a ride back in time.
