UPDATE: Friday, June 15, 2012.
We regret the disappointment and frustration caused by the fact that our stations continue to be unavailable on DirecTV’s service. While such “blackouts” are not unprecedented in DirecTV’s negotiations with TV stations, this has been a slow and frustrating process.
We spoke with DirecTV’s assigned negotiating team on Wednesday, June 13th in hopes of resolving the situation. As they had failed to respond to our most recent proposal (June 8th), we asked them how we were to interpret their inaction. While they did not suggest that negotiations were over from their end, they would not respond to our proposal or offer a compromise position.
We believe that it is in the best interest of all parties to come to a fair compromise. We have offered compromise again and again since
June 5th. DirecTV remains unresponsive to our most recent revised proposal. To date, even after our phone conversation, they have still not said yes to the proposal, and they have not said no. Nor have they offered a counter-proposal.
We hope that DirecTV’s officials will see the common sense in responding to us with reasonable compromise, and in a timely manner.
