The defending state champs from Deer-Isle Stonington trying to take home another trophy this year, taking on Penobscot Valley.
The bounces going the way of the Howlers early. Bottom 1st, Reese Leonard grounds one to second. Julie Hutchins can't handle it. She throws home and it goes over the head of the catcher. That allows Kirstin Batchelder and Shaelyn Jones to score. It's 2-0 Penobscot Valley.
After that, this game would fly by. Mariners pitcher Sydney Ouzts settling down after that, only giving up one more run in the game.
But her counterpart, Kayla Dube, was even better. She had the Deer-Isle Stonington batters fooled all night. The Howlers knock off the defending state champions, 3-0 the final. Penobscot Valley takes home the Class D Eastern Maine softball title. The Howlers will play Richmond in the state final.
