Roger Reed Steps Down As Bangor High School Boys Basketball Coach

3

Bangor - A coaching legend in the state of Maine is stepping down from his post after a 27-year run. Bangor High School head boys basketball coach Roger Reed is reportedly leaving his position.

His reason is politics. Reed won his Republican primary last night and will challenge Richard Thomas of Hermon for the right to represent House District 23 in the State Legislature. Reed reportedly was asked to choose between basketball and politics, wanting a full commitment from Bangor High, but this was his decision. Reed is one of the winningiest coaches in state history, posting a career record of 571-201 between Bangor and Bangor Christian. He led the Rams to eight Class A State Championships during his time.
