UMaine Pitcher Jeff Gibbs Drafted By Arizona Diamondbacks

Orono - For the second straight year, a UMaine baseball player tickling the fancy of an MLB team. Black Bear Captain Jeff Gibbs being selected in the 9th round of Major League Baseball's draft today.

The Arizona Diamondbacks taking the junior righty with the 303rd overall pick. Gibbs has made 42 appearances over his three years for Maine, 39 of them starts. He's a career 16-13 for the Black Bears with a 5.02 ERA, striking out 197 hitters in 211-plus innings. The Toronto native has also been an All-America East second teamer twice. Gibbs joins Taylor Lewis and Keith Bilodeau as Maine draftees over the last two years.
