Orono -
The UMaine baseball team also braving the cold, hosting Albany for an America East doubleheader.
Game One was a pitcher's duel until top 5th, runners at the corners, and Nolan Gaige with a line drive to the right side. Justin Leisenheimer knocks it down, but it surprises him. Troy Black tries to field the ball
but it's too late. A run comes home for Albany to break the scoreless tie. They'd plate two more in the inning to take a 3-0 lead.
But bottom half, Michael Fransoso puts the Black Bears on the board. An RBI double down the left field line helps Sam Balzano touch the plate. UMaine would score one more time on an RBI fielder's choice by Colin Gay. The potential tying run, Fransoso, gets tagged out going to third and that would be enough for Albany. They win the first game, 4-2, and sweep the twin bill, winning 1-0 in 10 innings in the second leg.
