Old Town -
High school baseball and softball finishing up the first week of the season today. Presque Isle finishing its weekend road trip from up north. They played Hermon yesterday.
Today both Wildcat teams on the diamond in Old Town. We start with baseball. The Wildcats coming off a twin bill sweep of Hermon. They won the first game today, 13-1.
In game two, the offense clicking again. Riley Norton with an RBI single in the 5th to give Presque Isle a 5-2 lead.
Then Garley Melmed with a mistake you don't see often. He doesn't come to a set, so the umpire calls a balk. Jacob Player comes in from third. Old Town would make it interesting, but Presque Isle wins game two as well. They're now 4-0 to start the year.
On the field next door, the Coyotes and Wildcats facing off in softball too. Old Town winning the first game, 15-3.
In game two, Meghan Leyton with a bomb to center that gets over the center fielder's head. That allows the Coyotes to put another run on the board
and take an 8-0 lead.
Old Town was solid on defense as well. Presque Isle with runners on 1st and 3rd, but Ashley England gobbles up a grounder and guns down the runner at the plate to preserve the shutout. The Coyotes sweep away the doubleheader with a 12-0 win in game two.
