President Obama arrived in Maine on Friday.

He flew in to the Portland International Jetport, where a small group of about 50 people was lucky enough to be on the tarmac to greet the president when he stepped off his plane.

From there, the president went to South Portland to speak to a crowd at Southern Maine Community College.

In his speech, he talked about what he's accomplished so far as president and what he plans to do in the future if re-elected.

He also discussed the differences between his policies and those being promoted by other presidential candidates.

"In the United States of America we believe in the basic promise that if you work hard, you can do well enought to raise your family and own a home and send your kids to college and put a little away for retirement. That's the choice in this election, different visions of America. This is not just another political debate. Thsi is the dividing issue of our time at a make or break moment for the middle class in this country. Who's going to be fighting for you? That's what this is about," said President Obama in his speech.

After that, he moved on to a smaller and much more expensive gathering at the Portland Museum of Art.

In his remarks at that event he said, "In some ways, this election becomes more important than 2008, not only to preserve the gains that had been made, but also to finish the task that we set ourselves,that we set for ourselves in 2008. Because we still have more work to do."

About 130 donors were at the museum, who had paid a minimum of $5,000 to attend.
