In Orono today, Maine Maritime softball trying to keep their 2-0 record intact, hosting Newbury College. They'd win the first game of the day in the bottom of the 7th, 7-6 the final score there.
In the second game, Haley Rae and her team trying to sweep the doubleheader. Rae with a lot of supporters on hand today from Belfast.
A tough start for Erica Taylor. Newbury jumping out to a 5-0 lead. But she'd settle down after that, going the complete game, striking out four.
Her offense would help her out. How about the start to the season for Leah Jackson? A double goes off the glove of the outfielder. Jackson's 7 for 13 with 8 RBI in four games.
In the 2nd, MMA gets on the board. Bucksport native Abby Yeo drops an RBI single to right. The Mariners would fight back in this one to tie it at five, but would lose 7-5. But they start their season at 3-1.
