Building Evacuated at the University of Maine After Bomb Threat

2

Orono - A bomb threat closed a building at the University of Maine for a few hours Thursday morning.

UMaine spokesman Ron Lisnet tells us UMaine Police received a call around 8:15 am from a person who received an email saying there was a bomb at Aubert Hall.

The building was evacuated and nearby roads were closed so police could search the area but nothing was found.

The building reopened just before 11 am.

Lisnet says the university used social media to alert the campus.

"The goal is to try to get as much information out to the campus community and people around the University of Maine campus as soon as possible so we use all technology we have available. Text, web, all the tools that are out there," he said.

University police are working with the technology department to find out where the email came from.
