A Massachusetts man involved in a car crash on the interstate in Edinburgh was flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center.

The accident happened around eleven Friday morning.

State police say 79-year-old Henry Fournier was driving north when he veered off the road and landed on an embankment surrounded by trees.

We're told he was unconscious when police arrived on scene but woke up before being flown the the hospital.

We do not know the extent of his injuries.

"With the winter months and winter weather, fire trucks being out here certainly people want to exercise some caution," said State Police Sgt. David Millett.

Traffic was backed up for about a mile for a half hour following the accident.
