The Super Bowl has evolved into a bigger eating event than Thanksgiving! And it packs a lot more challenges too! Thanksgiving meals revolve around turkey - a relatively low-fat cut of meat and the meal is served on a dinner plate. That helps you to keep your portions and your calories under control. The Super Bowl is all about savory, high-fat, high-calorie snacks. Worse, those snacks are set out everywhere in big bowls that invite you to help yourself without any thoughts whatsoever about how much you're eating! And since your focus is on the game, not so much what you're eating while you watch it, it's easy to eat thousands of calories without the slightest awareness of what you're doing! The team you're rooting for might win but if you're on "Team Weight Loss" you might be discouraged by "high score" when you step on the scale. Jackie Conn, from Weight Watchers, is here to share her Winning the Super Bowl Strategies.
Plan 1
* Psych yourself up to win by:
(a) Think of the biggest accomplishment you have ever achieved
(b) What inner resources did you call upon to make it happen
(c) Put a "Super Bowl" ring on your finger as a reminder to use those same resources to win the Super Bowl
Plan 2
* 2 drinks
* 2 fists

Cook time: 0 min
Serves: 8
Perfect for a party. Serve with fresh vegetables as well as chips for a total crowd pleaser.
Ingredients
1 cup(s) plain fat-free yogurt, Greek-variety recommended
1/2 cup(s) fat free salsa, hot chipotle variety suggested
1/2 medium avocado, diced
1/3 cup(s) cilantro, fresh, chopped
1/2 small uncooked red onion(s), chopped
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp table salt, or more to taste
Garnish
1/4 medium avocado, diced
1 Tbsp cilantro, fresh, chopped
1 Tbsp uncooked red onion(s), chopped
Instructions
In a medium bowl, stir together yogurt and salsa until blended; stir in remaining ingredients except garnishes. Cover and refrigerate up to 1 day.
When ready to serve, transfer to a serving bowl and sprinkle with garnishes.
Yields about 1/4 cup per serving.
Notes
This dip combines all those favorite Mexican flavors like salsa, avocado and cilantro using fat-free Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. It also makes a wonderful topping for tacos or other Mexican foods - and then you don't have to set out separate bowls of salsa, sour cream, avocado, cilantro and onion.
