The Ellsworth Cheerleaders won Eastern Maine's for the first time in 19 years this past weekend with a score of 145.7! That is the highest score any Ellsworth High School cheering team has ever received! They had to over come two injuries and rework their routine in 1 day and still came out on top! Vote for the lady eagles!!

Ellsworth Eagle Cheerleaders had two cheerleaders out - re-did their routine and had subs and STILL won the Eastern Maine Championships for the first time in 19 years!

ONE player did something amazing....... however, A TEAM overcame adversity and WON their Eastern Maine tournament........... Gotta give the girls their due!

Okay, Everyone Did a GREAT job. But everyone stop saying cheering isn't a sport. For those who think its easy.. Please I'd like to see you do that whole routine... Its not easy, Ellsworth Cheering has not won the Eastern Maine Championship title in 19 years. They have won other names but not Eastern Maine's. That is a big deal. And they worked SO hard to fix everything in one 2-3 hour practice. ONE practice after loosing 2 girls due to Injuries.. BROKEN BONES.. You can replace someone in basketball Easily.. Not in cheering. You have to have the right skill for the right spot. You can't just be thrown in to a new position in one night. You have to have flexablity to be a flyer. And we lost our two flyers. I am a part of Ellsworth Varsity Cheering and am Proud to say we won!

While one player made an 'against the odds' shot while competing against one team, it doesn't compare to 17 team members simultaneously making virtually the same shot ( against the odds) while competing against approximately 12 other teams. I vote for the Eagles.

Ellsworth Cheerleaders are hardworking, determined girls that deserve everything they have gotten this season! :) They are all really nice people and try SO hard for every award the get. They deserve this so much! 145.7? Are you kidding?! If that ISN'T the play of the week, then what is? These ladies ROCK!!!!

We are not saying that cheering isn't a sport what we have been shown to vote on is not a play. The play would be an incredible jump, flip or other move. We are not seeing that in the clip so that is what is in question.

Let's all remember that these are all High School athletes who all acomplished something amazing this week. Well done to all three regardless of who is chosen as the play of the week. However my vote goes with my home town of Vinalhaven and Brian Stanley.
