Augusta Officials Blame Rise in Burglaries on Prescription Drug Abuse

Augusta - Augusta officials blame a surge in burglaries to prescription drug abuse.

Augusta's police chief says his crews have responded to more than 600 thefts and nearly 400 vehicle break-ins this year.

He says the poor economy has something to do with it, but drug abuse is the most significant issue.

Mayor William Stokes says drug abusers will do anything to get money to buy drugs.
