Woman Involved with Arson in Albany Township not Sentenced to Jail

Albany Township - A woman who played a role in burning down several buildings that belonged to a former friend will not go to jail.

64-year-old Joann Farris has been sentenced to three years probation and ordered to pay $70,000 restitution.

She pleaded no contest to arson last month.

Prosecutors say she drove her daughter to buy kerosene then took her to property owned by a man she knew in Albany Township, which is just south of Bethel.

Her daughter is accused of setting a fire that destroyed two log cabins, a maintenance building and two storage buildings, which were not insured.
