Unity -
An Alpaca farm in Unity has a unique gift to offer.
It may be difficult to wrap or put in a stocking but the memories will sure make an impact.
For a flat fee, you can sign up for an annual Alpaca rental from the Northern Solstice Farm on Crosby Brook Road.
It gives you access to the farm and to your Alpaca.
You can work with the animal and also keep up with your new friend's progress online.
Owner Robin Fowler says the gift is about more than memories. It also educates folks about alpacas and promotes an industry with growth potential in Maine.
"This is a livestock that gives us an opportunity to grow this fiber industry in the United States to create jobs from everything including veterinary care in the fiber industry to marketing and design," she said.
We're told right now there are about a hundred Alpaca farms in Maine.
