Bangor - Thinking globally and acting locally is the topic of the Maine Chinese Conference.

About 100 people from around the state met at Husson University where the conference kicked off on Friday.

They heard from former candidate for governor Eliot Cutler who explained how China and Maine can work together.

The two-day conference focuses on education and business.

"How to teach chinese language efficiently and how to help Maine businesses sell their product in China more in the next year before the next conference," said Jing Zhang, conference coordinator and president of the Bangor Chinese School.

Business leaders, politicians, and school administratores are among those attending.
