Portland - THE MAINE LOBSTER COUNCIL--The Maine Lobster Chef of the Year 2011 was crowned after this year’s lobster cook-off competition held Friday at Portland, Maine’s three day food and wine event, Harvest on The Harbor. 

A live audience of two hundred lobster enthusiasts, journalists and industry representatives voted Personal Chef, Thomas Reagan this year’s Maine Lobster Chef of the Year after tasting an exceptional preparation of a Trio of Slow Poached Lobster Tail Nipponese. 

The competition took place between Personal Chef Reagan, Chef Kristian Burrin of The Seasons of Stonington, and head Chef at Lake Parlin Lodge and Cabins, Ryan Campbell. Burrin prepared a Trio of Maine Lobster Rolls, and Campbell prepared Maine Lobster Three Ways. 

“All three chefs did an exceptional job representing Maine lobster during its peak harvest season and showcasing innovative new ways for people to enjoy Maine Lobster,” said Dane Somers, Executive Director of the Maine Lobster Promotion Council. “We are proud to host this annual competition and pleased to partner with Maine’s premier food and wine event, Harvest on the Harbor, which allows us to share this special event with people from all over the country,” he continued. 

Maine Lobster Chef of the Year, Thomas Reagan, not only has a passion for the culinary arts, but also a successful track record in real estate. He received an associates degree in Culinary Arts in 1995 and has won several cooking contests and accolades as a local Maine chef. He is proud to have already been a finalist in the Maine Lobster Chef of the Year Contest in the past. 

At the competition, Reagan was awarded $1,000 in prize money and a display plaque identifying him as the Maine Lobster Chef of the Year.
