Augusta Officials Looking to Ban Fireworks


Augusta - Two Augusta city officials are asking the city council to ban fireworks from Augusta overruling a new law passed this year that would allow them statewide.

Augusta Fire Chief Roger Audette says he has lived in areas that allow fireworks to be used and he knows first hand the dangers they pose.

Augusta City Manager Bill Bridgeo says he'll gather fireworks ordinances from other communitites so the Augusta City Council can consider banning fireworks.
