An evening of fun is coming up to raise awareness for a serious issue. Tamar Mathieu joined Carolyn Callahan on TV5 News at 5 to let us know about Rape Response Services upcoming silent auction.
All proceeds will go to Rape Response Services to support individuals impacted by sexual violence and efforts to prevent all aspects of this violent crime. A recent study found that nearly one in five Maine residents reports that they have been the victim of rape or attempted rape during their lifetime; roughly 14,000 Maine residents may be the victim of rape or unwanted sexual activity during any 12 month period. Rape Response Services continues to provide free and confidential services for individuals in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties, including crisis intervention, accompaniment to medical and legal appointments, support groups, professional trainings, and community and school-based education.
