Bangor - Folks in Bangor put their rain gear on and headed to Bass Park Raceway.

They took part in the Walk to End Alzheimer's.

It's been taking place in Bangor for 21-years and was formerly called the Memory Walk.

All the money stays local and goes to the Maine Chapter of Alzheimer's Association. They provide a variety of services such as counseling, educational courses and a 24-hour call center.

" This cause is so important. It's just affecting more and more Americans. Right now Alzheimer's is the sixth leading cause of death. It's the only cause in the top ten that doesn't have a treatment, a prevention or any type of cure."

Something new to this year's walk was the Promise Garden. Folks were given a pin-wheel flower which they could write their story on, all the flowers were displayed for the participants to see.

We received word that this year they had 650 participants and raised $75,000.
