Bangor - It was the fourth annual Penobscot River Revival Festival Saturday on the Bangor waterfront.

Its purpose is to celebrate the river and all the values it holds for everyone.

They also used it as an opportunity to raise awareness of all the work being done on the river.

They say until the Clean Water Act in the 1970s, the Penobscot River was not properly taken care of. Now they say folks can be seen doing all sorts of recreational activities in it.

" That's the kind of thing we're celebrating here at this festival. As well as the clean water and the way communities up and down the river are paying much more attention to our rivers. They're revitalizing waterfronts like here in Bangor and in Old Town."
