So you'd like to buy a home but aren't sure if you can pull it off. Jayne Giles of Penquis joined Jim Morris on TV5 News at 5 with a program available that can help you do it.
1) MSF residential mortgage program: We recently increased from $110K to $150K. Homeowners unable to qualify for bank financing may apply to MSF to refinance or purchase a home.
2) HUD's Emergency Homeowner Loan Program (EHLP) - deadline to apply is 7/22. $50K loans to help prevent foreclosure. Borrowers must have experienced a loss of income due to employment changes or medical conditions during the recent recession to qualify.
3) Home Buyer Education: available for people wanting to purchase a home. Classes offered in Bangor and Rockland. Also, the class is now available online - for those who cannot attend a class.
