After a cool start to the season, it's finally feels like summer around here.

"It's absolutely beautiful weather. We finally have beautiful weather in Maine," said Debbie Sands of Bangor.

"It's sunny, it's warm. I like warm," said 7-year-old Lilie Sites.

"Finally, we get a chance to see sun," said 11-year-old Katie Strout.

And although people seem happy to see the sun, it helps when there's also somewhere to cool off. People lined up to splash around in Pancoe Pool including Katie Sell's family who traveled an hour and a half to spend the day poolside.

"It's a beautiful day and we love the pool and we just wanted to let the kids have a good day," said Sell, a Silver Ridge resident.

The pool staff says hot days like this definitely keep them busy. They'll typically bring in hundreds more than they do on a cloudy day.

"Total for yesterday was 1,000 and today we're probably expecting the same just with the weather being warm. It brings everyone out," said Nick Lust, Co-Aquatic Supervisor at Pancoe Pool.

The weather doesn't just bring everyone out to the pool, it also drives them to buy frozen treats. The driver of this ice cream truck says when the weather heats up, sales heat up.

"When it's hot like this the sales go through the roof. People want something cool, something quick," said Cindy McLaughlin, Good Humor ice cream truck driver.

Customers come to Giffords for the same reason. The manager here says, lately, folks have been stopping by looking for a cool snack from open to close.

"They'll show up here regardless of the weather but it sure helps when it's really warm, people definitely come in more often," said Rhonda Charette, Giffords Ice Cream manager.

It's all about taking advantage of summertime in Maine, enjoying the sunshine but also enjoying a refreshing break from it.
