Brewer - The state championships in high school outdoor track are this Saturday. The states in Class A are at Windham High School in Southern Maine. Two of the best athletes in the state go to brewer high school, they also happen to be good friends too.

The two stars for brewer are senior Tristan Wortman and sophomore Teal Jackson.

The Witches are taking it easy before Saturday's big day. Some light jogging followed by some golf baseball.

This past weekend at the PVC Championships, Wortman smashed a 19-year conference record in the pole vault and also won the 110 high hurdles. Jackson won the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes and was named the most oustanding performer of the meet.

The two are good buddies. They say their friendship has helped them develop as athletes.

Teal Jackson - Brewer Sophomore
"He pretty much told me whatever I do, I do it for myself. Don't worry about what other people say to you. When you run it should be for yourself. Have your own expectations, your own goals and don't worry about anybody else. Since then, it's really helped me a lot."

Tristan Wortman - Brewer Senior
"Just talking about it, I've got more confidence in my events. I feel more like i'm ready to do things. I'm not as nervous as I was before because talking with some one helps"
