Definitely a trend. Some may be surprised to learn that it has been decades in the making. Earthquakes, storms, tornadoes - all trending upwards for 50 years or more. See http://hubpages.com/_1qx7t66a8hy2b/hub/Alarming-Weather-and-Climate-Trends for some graphical data.
