Emily Johnson was named Miss Maine a few months ago but she had a conflict. Her sister's wedding was on the same weekend as the national Miss USA pageant. So Johnson has stepped down and the first runner up has taken her place.
And that person is Ashley Marble. The former Woodland high and USM basketball star will compete in June in Las Vegas.
Even more unusual is that she is now the third straight basketball player from this state to represent Maine.
The last two played at UMaine.... Katie Whittier and Ashley Underwood.
Marble was also Miss Teen Maine 11 years ago.
