Old Town - An Old Town native who's becoming a musical sensation made his appearance on The Ellen Show Wednesday.

Meghan Hayward watched it with Nick Noonan's father.

Michael Noonan says his son Nick always had a passion for music.

"I remember when he was in fourth grade and he was interested in the trombone and they delivered it and he picked it up and music came out of it. I'd pick it up and squawk. But he'd pick it up and it would come right out."

Nick attended the Berklee College of Music, which is where he met Amy, the other half of Karmin. His father says they struck up a friendship and decided to team up.

"Particularly their interest was to develop it through the internet so they're doing it very methodically. They've got a manager, to make sure all the copyright issues are taken care of. They are kind of gradually widening their audience."

There's no doubt their appearance on The Ellen Show will bring them even more viewers.

"They've already gotten 3 million views, they've got people contacting them from record labels and producers. So this can't hurt, just add to it I guess."

Michael says they both work other jobs right now, but would like to make a living from music. He says 5 or 10 years ago their videos wouldn't have made such a splash.

"It's funny so much of this is all through the internet and Facebook and email. I mean that's how their video took off anyway."

It was evident at the watch party, we were in the presence of a proud parent.

"It's still sinking in. They're having negotiations with Columbia and different record labels like that. So we don't know what's going to happen. The only bad part is they're going to have to move to LA to do all this so we'll probably see them a little bit less."
