Substantial progress has been made in weather forecasting over the past several decades. From the quality of data to how we observe the weather, the science is at a very good point right now. Additionally, those people involved in the world of weather continue to take strides to not only learn, but improve the science of the atmosphere. However, I recently came across an article that indicates the advancement in weather forecasting might plateau or even take a few steps back. It notes how cuts in the national budget could take away from the National Weather Service which could impede our progress.
