Some good news and some bad news for those hoping to see the whoopie pie named the official dessert of Maine.
Amos Orcutt, President of the Maine Whoopie Pie Association, says a committee of lawmakers in Augusta voted on Monday to make the whoopie pie the state treat, not the state dessert.
The committee also voted that a whoopie pie be defined as having two cakes as opposed to two chocolate cakes.
The matter will now head to the full legislature for a vote. Orcutt says he can live with the decision but he's obviously disappointed.
