Bangor - Spragues Nursery in Bangor held a fundraiser for the Bangor Humane Society Wednesday evening.

"Art in the Garden" was a cocktail party with an artistic flair. All the funds raised will benefit the Bangor Humane Society.

Melissa Higgins, retail manager at Spragues, came up with the idea because her two loves in life are art and animals.

Suzan Bell, executive director of the Bangor Humane Society, says she's thrilled with the support from everyone involved.

" It really warms our heart, it shows us that there's some people who really care about these pets that are in our care right now," said Bell.

Bell says it costs $75,000 a month to run the facility and that the money raised will be put to good use.
