Rockland -
The Breakwater Lighthouse in Rockland will be off limits Friday night and Saturday.
Police have announced they're shutting down the popular attraction for safety reasons as the effects of Hurricane Earl are felt along the coast.
The Breakwater Park located at the end of Samoset Road will also be closed.
Both will close from six o'clock Friday night until 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon.
Wave action during and after a storm is highly unpredictable and can become deadly.
Last summer a 'rogue wave' caused by an off shore tropical storm, swept numerous people from the rocks in Acadia National Park, into the ocean where a seven year old girl died.
