Rockland -
Many marinas along the Maine coast are pressing boat owners to move their vessels to safety. Rockland's Harbormaster is urging all boaters to get thier boats out before Friday morning if possible. Ed Glaser told TV5 News that he expects to have some boats be forced ashore even if the harbor doesn't get a direct hit from the hurricane.
On Land, Ray Sisk is tracking the storm at the Knox County Emergency Management Agency. As Earl gets closer Sisk and his team are making sure Rockland's emergency plans are in place. High surf conditions and breaking wave action are concerning for officials because Sisk says often times people will tend to get to close to the water. He says, "Those things put a lot of energy at the shore and if people are standing on the rocks they could very easily be washed into the water and put themselves at risk and the people that might come try to rescue them."
