Bangor -
Folks gathered at the Cole Land Transportation Museum Thursday, to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the end of World War Two.
At noon, all Maine churches rung their bells at the request of Governor Baldacci in support of the bells rung 65 years ago throughout the state.
A U.S. military helicopter landed on museum's lawn, giving folks a chance to look inside it.
The celebration also gave veterans the opportunity to mingle and swap stores.
Museum founder, Galen Cole says being able to have the opportunity for the celebration is a dream come true for him.
Galen Cole, Founder: " I made a promise to my God that if he allowed me to come home from the War I would make a difference and I and 200 other veterans of World War Two on down through now."
Dr. Warren Burns, WWII Veteran: " I'm proud of my country, I'm proud of our service and I'm proud of these guys. So it just feels good to be here."
After the ceremony guests were treated to a sing-a-long and cake and ice cream along with other events.
