Bangor - Obama administration officials are in Maine to hear what's being done at the local and state levels to connect Mainers to the outdoors and conserve natural resources.

Thursday's session at the Bangor Civic Center is free and open to the public. The Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality
and senior representatives of the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and the Interior will conduct what's billed as a listening session. It's part of President Barack Obama's America's Great Outdoors Initiative to develop a 21st century conservation and recreation agenda.

A panel of local leaders will talk about collaborative efforts that have protected Maine's natural resources and encouraged Mainers to get outside and connect with nature. (AP)
