A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for coastal Washington and coastal Hancock Counties. This means that tropical storm conditions are expected as Earl passes by tonight and early Saturday. Winds will be sustained over 39 mph with higher gusts possible and could result in minor to moderate damage, downed tree limbs and power outages. In addition to the heavy rain and wind, seas will be very rough and could produce some splash over and minor beach erosion along some coastal areas so people are being advised to stay away from the coast while the storm moves through.
A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for interior Hancock, northern and central Washington Counties, as well as the entire coast from coastal Waldo County down to coastal York County. Tropical Storm force winds are possible in the watch area depending on the exact track of the storm.
