As of tuesday afternoon Earl is right on course with our original forecast. The National Hurricane Center keeps Earl as a category 4 hurricane with sustained winds of 135mph, and he is beginning to move towards the Carolinas.

Computer models are indicating that the high-pressure cell in the central Atlantic will be stronger and a trough that will dip into the Great Lakes region will hold off just enough to allow Earl to come closer to the coastline. However, most indications will track this storm over Nova Scotia and clip our coastal waters.

The biggest threat that we can see at the moment are dangerously high waves Friday and early Saturday. Additionally, we will experience much needed rain and windy conditions throughout the duration of the event. However, if there is any shift in the track of this system, the weather we see can be drastically different. A shift to the west will degrade the weather significantly and a shift to the east could improve the weather.

We will keep you updated with the latest, but at the moment expect this event to last from Friday afternoon until Saturday morning.
