A Jay woman will spend six months behind bars, for killing her husband last year in a drunk driving crash.
51-year old Barbara Benoit was sentenced last Friday for manslaughter, a charge she insisted on pleading guilty to.
Police say Benoit was driving drunk when she crashed her car into a guard rail in July of 2009, killing Peter Benoit.
Benoit then drove the car home after the crash, and called 911.
Prosecutors said they were willing to plea down to a lesser charge of aggravated OUI, but Benoit said she would only agree to manslaughter charges, saying that's what she felt she deserved.
Benoit is serving her sentence at the Somerset County jail. Her license was suspended for five years, and she'll also have to pay a fine of $2,100 dollars.
