Anyone attending the American Folk Festival is sure to notice the Tshirs.

Volunteers and staff are wearing them , and there are shirts for sale too.

Meghan Hayward got a peak at the process of choosing the design and getting them printed.

"Sometimes we work with a graphic designer to create a design out of their creativity and sometimes we look at artists line-up that we have and see if there's any particular colorful or vibrant artist that might translate well into a t-shirt graphic."

For this year's American Folk Festival, one of the acts will be featured on the Tshirts.

"The drummer that we've got, who is kind of playing this role of the t-shirt artist, you can look at him and see that this is an ethnic tradition. This is something that's really going to have some movement and be a lot of fun."

But the tshirt design doesn't come without some challenges.

"It's got to be able to really pop on the poster and on the program. But then it's got to be able to convert into the different screens that are needed to turn it into a screen printable design."

J Group Adverstising of Bangor created this years tshirt design.

"We're very excited to be helping with the Folk Festival design and other materials."

The tshirts are also being printed locally, at W.S. Emerson in Brewer.

"Basically a bid goes out and we put in a bid. Then when the bid process is through we get art work sent to us and we modify the art work and put it to screens and print the shirts."

John Vickery Jr., Vice President of W.S. Emerson, says when it's all done, they'll have printed close to three thousand tshirts.

"We're using an automatic printing press and in optimum conditions a press like this can print 3 to 500 shirts in an hour."

Everyone involved with this year's tshirt say they're happy with the end result.

"I think people are going to be proud to say this is the image of the festival."
