Kurt Adams Closer to Becoming UMaine Trustee

Orono - The former chairman of the Maine Public Utilities Commission is a step closer to becoming a University of Maine Trustee.

The Maine Legislature Education Committee approved Kurt Adams' appointment.

The full senate will consider the nomination later this month.

Adams was Governor Baldacci's chief legal counsel before being appointed to the Public Utilities Commission.

He left that post after deciding there was a conflict of interest because of a transmission project near his home.

He then joined the wind power company, First Wind.
