Bangor -
The prospect of higher energy taxes energized folks to hold a press conference in Bangor Thursday.
The Maine Heritage Policy Center and Americans For Prosperity are trying to send a message to Maine's US Senators to say no to the tax hikes.
The House of Representatives passed a 2-dollar per barrel oil tax to help pay for oil spill response.
The groups say if the tax holds up we'll see a big difference at the gas pump.
"The U.S. Senators from Maine are crucial decision makers on these issues because of the role they play in deciding which agenda items can move forward."
Both groups are urging concerned citizens to contact Senators Snowe and Collins.
