Tropical Storm Colin is now the third named storm during the 2010 Hurricane Season. As of the 11am advisory, maximum sustained winds are approximately 40mph with higher gusts. The center of Colin is still way out in the central Atlantic Ocean.

What is interesting about Colin is that it is a very concentrated storm. Colin does not take up much real estate at all and it is not forecasted to grow very much. The center of circulation is small and ragged at this time. Therefore, since there is some disorganization with this system, at the moment, the forecast is to strengthen the storm gradually. Computer data is informing us that there should be no rapid intensification. Additionally, Colin's track keeps the center north of the Bahamas and squeezing between the Carolinas and Bermuda.

During this part of the Hurricane Season, if a storm were to make a track like this, the upper level winds will continue to push the storm away from the east coast and into the North Atlantic. This means that New England should be spared from this storm, but changes can occur.
