Students on Vinalhaven and North Haven will be learning a lot more about energy efficienty thanks to a $50,000 grant from time warner. The money is funding a pilot project called "Energy for Me".
10 teachers and more than 70 middle and high school students from the islands will take part.
Organizers say they'll incorporate the Fox Island wind farm that's located on Vinalhaven as a teaching tool.
If the project goes well the folks at the island institute would like to expand it to other schools along the coast...
The program begins this fall. Organizers hope the students will gain an understanding of their community's use of energy and new ways to conserve it.
