A new law helping to protect seniors and those with developmental disabilities is now in effect.
The Silver Alert law sets up a statewide alert for missing adults with dementia or developmental disabilities.
Modeled after Amber Alert, it speeds up searches and adopts a uniform statewide public notification policy using radio and TV when a senior citizen goes missing.
Last year, there were three high profile cases where Mainers with disabilities went missing. The wife of one of those people who died calls this law a blessing.
