In remembrance and honor of Sgt. Brandon Silk, Governor Baldacci has ordered the U.S. flag and the state flag be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday.
The 25-year-old Silk, who served with the 101st Airborne Division, died in Afghanistan last Monday.
Silk, who attended Orono High School, was a Black Hawk crew chief, stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
His body expected to be returned home on Wednesday.
The funeral service for Sgt. Silk is planned for Friday at the United Baptist church in Old Town.
