One of the biggest factors when it comes to forecasting is where our future weather is coming from. The source region is one of the most curtail parts of figuring out how the temperatures will play out and even what type of precipitation will be falling from the sky.

A good example comes with the type of weather we will experience this week. High pressure will be the dominant weather feature, keeping the sky mostly sunny, and the winds fairly light. However, the big question is…where is this high coming from?

The source of our latest body of high pressure will be from Canada (AKA Canadian High). Air is much colder from where our high is originating, and when the high builds down to our region; it will provide a flow from the northwest, which will help to shuttle in cooler air.

If the high came from the south or southwest, where the air is much warmer, then we would experience a jump in temperatures. This is because on the front side of a high that originates from the south would have a west and southwesterly flow, that would filter in warmer air.

Nonetheless, it will be a nice week, but it will not be as warm as if a high came from the south and built north.
