A Guilford man can't say enough good things about the folks of LifeFlight.

That's because if it wasn't for them, he might not be here to share his story.

"Well, of course it's every parent's nightmare to get the dreaded midnight phone call, and we did that twice. I can't tell you how hard it is as a parent to go through that."

Andy Lovell is talking about two separate accidents involving his son, Logan Lovell.

The first accident, Logan was taken to the hospital by LifeFlight and returned home with minor injuries.

The second accident, he wasn't so lucky, Logan was flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center by LifeFlight. He was so badly injured, the doctors gave him little chance of survival.

But after two months in the hospital, Logan was able to return home to Guilford.

"It was a lot of brain damage. Memory loss and understanding things for the first nine months. I went to counseling for the first nine months. Pretty much to get some self confidence back in me because I needed some help when I first got out of the hospital."

Alcohol was involved in both accidents.

"The main thing is that you should never drive when you've been drinking. No matter if you're driving with someone who's been drinking or if you're driving after you've been drinking. You should never get in a vehicle, it's not worth it. After everything I've been through, it's just not worth it."

While Logan's life and his family's life will never be the same, they're grateful for the care he received during his recovery.

They speak highly of the LifeFlight crew that got him the help he needed.

"I'm very very thankful of LifeFlight. They've pretty much helped other people and saved my life two different times so I owe them all the respect in the world and I thank them very much. They've done more than words could ever explain for me and my family."

"I can't really speak enough good words about LifeFlight. They saved my son's life not once but twice. I think they're a great organization. He wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for them."

The Lovell's have done everything they can to support LifeFlight. They own a hardware store in Guilford and held a raffle at the store.

"We raised well over $500 dollars for LifeFlight and we also contribute when we are able to financially."

Logan hopes other people don't have to go through what he has.

But if they do, he wants them to know LifeFlight is on their side.

"Every chance they get to save lives, I want them to be able to, not run short on money. Be able to save some more people's lives."
