Whether you are a horse person or not please pay attention to this news article. Please research for yourselves the information that is currently available regarding this farms neglect and abuse issues. Horses rely on their "humans" in order to be heard.

Offer helping hands not hindering comments

Thank you WABI for stepping to the plate and letting the people in Maine know about this issue via your broadcast. We're in terrible economic times right now and I'm sure that many animals will suffer because of it. Maine has been named one of the top 10 states for it's animal welfare rules but places like this continue to fall through the cracks in our system. Perhaps a story is in order to let Mainers know what the laws are and what they should be looking for to possibly help our system become stronger.

I see only a few horses that may need more weight but WHO SAYS they were not taken to the farm like this...This farm is doing what they need to do an I hope they SUE Nickernews an WIN....maybe that money could make the horses lives even better. If you dont have that many horses you have NO idea how it is to take care of them,most people run their mouths cause they have nothing better to so with their lives but mind others business. Maybe Nickernews should worry about their own issues an stop trying to take the heat off themselves!!!

I drive by this farm on a daily basis and these horses are always eating and appear to have plenty of buckets for water. Instead of being so quick to judge maybe we should step back and listen to the entire story. A helping hand is so much more useful that a mouth full of harsh criticism. Bless these owners for stepping up to the plate to care for these animals.

Im sure she takes great care of the horses (NOT) seeing that you have on tape her kicking one of the horses to move, there was no need of that she could have moved the horse another way!!!! Someone help these poor horses!!!!!! abuse abuse abuse!!!!!!!

I watched the news broadcast on this very closely last night. I was out at the farm on Saturday and saw several horses in the one of the pastures they showed on the news with blankets on. They were so skinny that through the blankets viewing from the road, not up close their back and hip bones were extremely prominent through the blankets! NONE of those horses were in that pasture when the new casters were there, so either they moved them, hid them in the barn or shot them, hard to say witch with those people. So yes, they are gong to move or shoot the ones that will cause them trouble with the state and then the state can say..see there's no problem here...this whole thing is sick and makes me embarrassed to be a Mainer.

to wavin2ya,,if she or anyone dont have the means of feeding that meny horses then thay should not have gotten them!! no matter what..i have had horses all my life and i have seen and been offerd some that was not in very good shape and i really wainted them , BUT I COULD NOT take proper care of them,,as bad as i wanted to i did'nt take them...i would have had to rob petter to pay paul...

One most also stop to ask if this is a personal vendetta, or some free advertising for NickerNews.

I've known Alexis for a long time now and have spent time on her burnham farm!!! She feeds her horses and tends to them around the clock ! I know this for a fact i spent many hours sometimes up to 7 hours at a time with Alexis on the phone when i was off mission in Iraq and she was always in the barn or out tending her horses! Shes a good person and a great friend ! i spent my R@R around Alexis's farm most of it for that fact and there was nothing going on but hard work !i have myself grew up around horses and cows most my life and the only thing Alexis is guilty of is working to hard and not asking for help pushing a round bail or watering her horses ! bottom line is you folks that have brought trouble to the Ingraham faimly your the problem stressing a young woman carring a child and doing whats right you should go home and leave people alone or get the whole story on whats going on not peek from the wood line like a bunch of creepy wierdo's !! Alexis and Bret you have my !110% support and i will help in anyway i can !!!!

The states job is to investigate and determine validity of the complaint. Numerous complaints about this farm and current occupants were received by the state from numerous people about different conditions for an extended period of time prior to this particular complaint/issue coming to light. And what did the state do about these prior complaints - nothing. It took a complaint from an MSSPA rep to get them to even start to investigate. This is no "personal vendetta" it is a long hard look at the State of Maine's Animal Welfare System's record of inactivity on reported cases of animal abuse and neglect. The events at Fair Play farm are only the tip of the iceberg as far as the complacency of the AWO goes. There are many other reports of other cases with similar responses fro the AWO. Enough is enough. While some may feel that "these are just animals" why should we care what happens - it is the human that has domesticated them and thereby made it our responsibility to care for them.

Ok gang we need to push the burnham property the own just as hard as we are working for the Clinton horses, my guess is there are even more horses in even more desperate condtion there, yet hardly anything has been mentioned about that property that they have horses on. Clinton and Burnham need to start going hand in hand, Im sure the state is sighing a hugh sigh of relief that no one is pushing them on that site...PLEASE EVERYONE, put these two sites together with your compaints, we need pictures and stories from there also. I'd be she has moved a bunch of the ones from Clinton to Burnham, the ones she hasnt shot anyway. We need to push just as hard on that place.

I have been to Fair Play a couple of times and most of the horses are in fine shape, but the ones that are under weight are because she rescued them. Alexis is always giving her horses food and they do have shelte.

I have been to Fair Play a couple of times. Everytime i have been there i have watched Alexis feed her horses and care for them. For the people that have been leaving comments that are not helpful, you really dont know what is going on at Fair Play. If you think that this is abuse then you should help Alexis out by giving her feed and other supplies that her horses need.

I have been to Fair Play a couple of times and i have only seen maby 3 or 4 under weight horses, and i know for a fact that they are rescue horses because i have seen Alexis feed her horses every time i am there and there is always food where ever they are and they always have plenty of water. Also Alexis would never treat a horse like that she loves them so much.

I have known Alexis since we were 5 years old, she has never been the type of person to abuse her animals. Those horses are like her children. I can't count how many nights I would go to her Burnham farm and help her for hours by mucking stalls, and helping her put hay out, and give them water. Even on drizzily nights I would help. I think that if as many people were against her, helped her, those sick looking horses she takes in and rescues would be looking alot better. thats what she has lived for, helping horses in need. I agree with what she said, a sick horse that has been sick that long doesn't turn around over night. She is not a miracle worker.

Good, I hope they are prosecuted and their farm is shut down. These are terrible people. No horse deserves this treatment. I would think with all of this attention, CNN would do a story on this terrible place. I HOPE they do......SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN.
